for the love of chocolate

February 10, 2017

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and though it may be cliche, it truly is the perfect time for chocolate. This holiday is all about love: for celebrating the ones you love and taking time to reflect in gratitude for the ways that you are loved. A decadent chocolate treat is the perfect way to indulge and to linger over the romance, platonic love, or any kind of love in your life. I’ve rounded up three of my favorite and very simple chocolate go-tos that you can feast on during the holiday. Make one for your lover or even with your friend, and count all the ways that you’ve been loved so far this year.

honey baked pears

December 13, 2016

Sometimes I crave something sweet, but look to satiate that craving while sticking to a healthier lifestyle. In those moments, I reach for fruit. Its natural sugar content keeps my sweet tooth happy but stays in line with feeding my body as healthfully and naturally as possible.

peach & blackberry clafoutis

Clafoutis. The word itself is intimidating. Don’t worry, I’m about to dissipate that intimidation for you. Clafoutis is a classic French dessert {which of course, the thought of cooking anything French seems fancy and complicated-but this is not!}, made by pouring a sweet batter over fresh fruit. My goal during my journey was to stay inspired and creative with my dishes, all while eating within the parameters of the Whole 30 diet. And that had to include sweet treats!

raspberry lime cake

June 28, 2016

I scream, you scream, we all scream for cake! Can we make that a thing? Cake is one of those desserts usually reserved for special celebrations like birthdays, weddings, etc, but I want to bring back those times where cake was a sweet that was whipped up on a random Tuesday afternoon in case of guests stopping by.

pluot tart

May 26, 2016

One of my favorite things to do during this time of year is peruse my local farmers markets. Some of the most beautiful and delicious food is in season at the moment including one of favorites, the pluot. A pluot is a cross between a plum and an apricot and delivers the look and feel of a plum, but with less acidity and on the sweeter side. It’s the perfect fruit to bite into during the warmer summer months, and is versatile enough to dress up all of your dishes from salad to dessert.
