the darling x aerie retreat: some recipes!

hi friends! Hope your week has been amazing so far. A few weeks back, I got to partner up with two AMAZING brands, Darling Magazine and Aerie and had the opportunity to host and cook for their retreat! We invited 20 women, and together spent a weekend in the Hamptons having some quality intentional rest time. We ate like queens, swam in the pool, I taught a personality workshop, and we explored the Ocean shore. The weekend was absolutely dreamy. Cooking for 20 women can be overwhelming, but with the help of my assistant and a few simple and¬†beautiful recipes, the weekend was overwhelmingly enjoyable. I wanted to share a few of my favorite recipes with you that are some go-to’s for groups like this!

One of my most cherished things in life is bringing the people I love together in one room to celebrate, to connect, and just to be together. The joy of Women & Whiskies is that they are intent on bringing amazing women together, celebrating the power of women, and empowering women to drink something that is historically considered a man’s drink. My darling friends, Jessie and Tara, from How You Glow, partnered with me to create an epic night of cocktails, conversation, and connection on the beautiful patio at Viviane. We gathered some of our favorite LA women and created an evening to remember.

You know what I’ve been addicted to lately? Shishito peppers. Blistered shishito peppers started popping up on menus all around LA about a couple of summers ago, and for good reason! These peppers are a highly addictive picky bit to start off any meal. They’re bright green and fairly mellow, except for the occasional spicy one that packs a punch- so it’s fun eating them too, cause you never know if you’ll get one spicy guy out of the bunch!

Can we talk about my love of succulents and copper?? They’re two things I absolutely go nuts over when it comes to decor. When Herradura Tequila asked Caroline from Love & Loathing LA¬†and I to co-host a dinner, we were immediately on the same page about decor. We’re both nerds for creating the perfect dinner aesthetic, and we spent the morning perusing the Downtown Los Angeles flower mart for delicious succulents and copper vases. Sadly, we didn’t find the kind of copper we were looking for, so we took matters into our own hands- and got crafty with spray paint. That is one of my favorite things whenever I’m designing a dinner party: I love dreaming up a vision, and then adding in elements of spontaneity whenever my original vision isn’t readily available.

Food Picky Bits Series What I'm Eating

Summer dishes are in full effect at my house. With the season wrapping up and people getting those summer parties in before the long sunny days are over, an easy side dish at your fingertips is a must-have for all those final backyard BBQs. This delicious (and remarkably simple) side is made with locally sourced baby roasted potatoes, and some farm raised eggs. And, as with most of my dishes, a delicious condiment is a great accompaniment to add an extra kick of flavor.
